Standard off-site Tours

These tours are part of our All-inclusive package and are also available to all visiting guests for an additional fee. Please sign up at the front desk or email us to add these tours to your reservation.

Xunantunich or Cahal Pech Mayan Ruins San Ignacio & Inland Blue Hole

This all-day tour takes you to Xunantunich “Maiden of the Rock” archaeology site. The view from the top of the highest temple, El Castillo, is breathtaking giving an expansive view of rainforests, rivers and farmland all the way to Guatemala!

Or if you prefer you could visit Cahal Pech instead - the oldest-known Maya site in Western Belize -was a palatial, hilltop home part of the royal acropolis a palace of an elite Mayan ruling family during the Classic period.

We will make a quick stop in San Ignacio town and
at the end of the day we stop at a beautiful cenote with deep, turquoise clear waters to enjoy cool and refreshing swim.

Cave Tubing

Head into the underground world of the Mayans, also known as "Xibalba" meaning "place of fright", is the name of the underworld (or K'iche': Mitnal) in Maya mythology. The Mayan used the crevices and caves for water, shelter, and all sorts of rituals, including human sacrifices. Scared? don't be...

After a short hike, you'll enter the Belizean cave system where you will cool off, grab an inner tube and float down river and underground. You will see and learn about the many limestone cave formations including stalactite, stalagmite, flow stone etc.

River Paddle, Maya Village, Chocolate, and Hopkins Beach

We drive 30 min to Maya Center, a small Mayan farming village south of Bocawina. Begin with a village walk, and stop at the local chocolate makers to experience the ‘Bean-too Bar’ chocolate making process and tasting. Next door is the Maya Women's Craft Centre with exquisite slate carvings, woven baskets, textiles and beadwork. After lunch we paddle our kayaks down the serene and winding Sittee River. To end our adventures we stop on the beaches of the Garifuna Village of Hopkins. This tour is a unique day of activity and culture.

Belize Bird Watching at Sittee River

Our Mayan naturalist guide will take you to the Sittee River where you will go on a birdwatching boat trip along the river. The mangroves located at the mouth of this river are the tallest ever reported for the Caribbean region and among the tallest anywhere in the entire Neotropics. Large marine and freshwater crocodiles inhabit the banks and waters of the river and sightings are very common. Iguanas can be seen sunbathing on the branches of trees hanging over the river. Bird watchers will be thrilled by the variety of airborne wildlife like flycatchers, egrets, kingfisher, toucans, parrots and herons.

Jungle Horseback Riding, Farm and Hopkins Village

Enjoy the beauty of the jungle by horseback on this half-day tour. Enjoy a leisurely ride while your experienced guide points out the flora and fauna around you. Stop at the river for lunch and a refreshing swim before continuing on to visit the Seaside Garifuna Village of Hopkins. Anyone can enjoy this activity, from the experienced rider to the absolute beginner. The horses are well trained and the guides will be with you throughout the tour.

Bird Watching at Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve

Venture to Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Preserve to explore the trails in the world’s first Jaguar Preserve. Known for its spectacular waterfalls, mountain views, nature trails, and rich diversity of Neotropical birds, this is a perfect place for a bird-watching adventure.

Spices, Ancient Maya and the Mayan Living Experience

Start with a visit to the Belize Spice Farm and Botanical Gardens. Then visit the Mayan village of Big Falls and experience how the ancient peoples of this region lived. This tour offers guests a fascinating glimpse into a disappearing world in which the local Kek’chi Maya depend upon the jungle for building materials, furniture, medicine even musical instruments. Enjoy a traditional Mayan meal, a cultural experience you will not soon forget!

We visit the ruins of Nim Li Punit well known for its stelae or carved stone monuments. This is a truly beautiful site with many plazas and terraces. Even a ball court can be found here.

These tours go above and beyond, taking you to unique locations and landmarks of Belize and even Guatemala. They include additional gear, equipment, or additional transportation to remote locations.

These tours are not included in our All-Inclusive package but can be added at full rate -or- you can upgrade from a standard off-site to premium off-site for an additional fee.

Belize ATM Cave Tour (Actun Tunichil Muknal)

The ATM cave (Cave of the Stone Sepulcher) is the number one cave expedition in Belize. The caves contains skeletal remains, ceramics, and stoneware left by the Mayas who used the caves between AD 250 - 909. The most famous skeleton is that of a young girl, which has been completely covered by the natural processes of the cave, Your adventure begins with a hike through the tropical forest of Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve.

On arrival at the cave entrance, we swim (PFD’s provided for weak swimmers) across a pool to the gateway of the underworld. You need a good level of physical fitness as the journey involves wading through cool water, climbing over rocks, and crawling through narrow passageways. All in all an unforgettable adventure.

Caracol Mayan Ruins, Rio Frio Caves & Rio On Pools

Explore the ancient Maya city of Caracol, then enjoy and afternoon swim the Río On pools and the Río Frio caves. Caracol is the largest Maya archaeological site in Belize with an urban radius spread 10 kilometers around the site's epicenter. It covered an area much larger than present day Belize City and supported more than twice the modern city's population. Your guide will lead you through the vast archaeological site; you will stand in the ancient ball court, and take in sweeping views of the jungle from the peak of the sky temple pyramid. Learn about the history of Caracol, glyphs, stelae, and carvings throughout the site, and finish your day swimming in natural pools and visiting a vast limestone cave system in Pine Ridge.

Monkey River + Placencia Peninsula

The Monkey River begins in the southern Maya Mountains and empties into the Caribbean Sea near Monkey River Town. The river provides vital habitat for ocelot, jaguar, black howler monkey, bare-throated tiger heron, Morelet's Crocodile and manatees. We take you to a well-known manatee hole providing an excellent chance of seeing these aquatic mammals.

After the tour, we explore the town of Placencia, visit colourful gift shops and local galleries. Enjoy a cold drink at a local ‘Cool Spot’ spot or just chill on Placencia’s beautiful sandy beach.

Tobacco Caye Barrier Reef Scuba Day 2-tank Dives

Early breakfast and then a drive from Bocawina to Dangriga to meet your boat. Motor 9 miles East to Tobacco Caye Paradise Dive Center perched on the barrier reef wall. Two dives with a lunch break on an island, between. Your Southwater Caye Marine Reserve Park fees, return land and boat transfers, lunch, mask, fins, BC, regulators, tanks, and dive master are provided.

Bioluminescence Boat Cruise

Explore the Sittee River and experience the rich ecosystem teeming with wildlife. You may see Crocodiles, birds, iguanas, kinkajou, ocelots, and depending on the calmness of the water even a manatee or two. Then cruise into the Lagoon where you will experience the bioluminescence, a natural light phenomenon created by living marine organisms. This is an Evening Tour, seasonal December to May

Island Snorkel and Cultural Fishing Day

Join us for a day of Belizean handline fishing and snorkeling near the southern barrier reef!

There is no better place than the warm waters of Belize for snorkeling - exploring a fantastic underwater world, rich with color and life, in the South Water Caye Marine Reserve located at the southern end of the barrier reef. Snorkel through some of the clearest waters with some of the most diverse and colorful sea life. Then try your hand at some jigging and bring your fish back and we will cook it up for you. Belize boasts the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world and the largest in the Northern Hemisphere, can it get any better?

Tikal National Park (Guatemala)

In the heart of the Guatemalan jungle lies one of the major sites of Mayan civilization - Tikal. There are over 3,000 separate buildings dating from 600 BC to AD 900, including temples, residences, and religious monuments decorated with hieroglyphic inscriptions, and tombs. Although archaeological work started around 80 years ago, it's estimated that 80% of the ruins still remain unexcavated, making Tikal one of the most promising sites used to decipher some of the unknown Mayan secrets. Tikal National Park protects over 222 square Miles of rainforest with over fifty-four species of mammals, including the howler monkey, spider monkey, giant anteater, nine-banded armadillo, coati, kinkajou, tayra, paca, puma, margay, ocelot, jaguarundi and the iconic jaguar!
